A Poem on Leadership

My dad and I have been reading and discussing the book Letters to a Young Pastor by Calvin Miller and in the book Miller writes a wonderful poem about leadership.

I cannot lead

If I will not follow.

I dare not command,

When I have not obeyed.

Self-will is only

A sacred oath made hollow.

Disobedience is only

A trust mislaid.

“‘Follow Me, And I will make you fishers of men.’ They immediately left their nets and followed Him.”
